if only we could have got to know each other earlier
if only our paths have crossed any sooner
if only there were no others to consider
if only i could call you and have a heart to heart
if only we didn't live so many miles apart
if only i could hear you, with your usual charms
if only all these were so, i could hold you in my arms
if only you and i were both free, maybe we could be together
if only things were so simple, then maybe it would be now and forever
so maybe someday it would happen, who can really say
what would the future bring, we can only live it by the day
